MAMMOGRAPHY

Mammography, which uses a low dose x-ray to examine the breasts, offers a safe and accurate way to detect abnormalities that are too small to see or feel.

A mammogram should be a part of every woman’s annual clinical exam starting at age 40. At OB-GYN Associates, our certified and registered technologists use advanced mammography equipment in a setting that offers our patients privacy, security and convenience. Our mammography center, which undergoes regular inspections, is held to the highest standards and is FDA-approved.

  • Preparing for Your Mammogram
    • If you are pregnant or breast feeding, please let your technologist know beforehand.
    • Try to schedule routine mammograms immediately after your menstrual cycle.
    • Wear a two-piece garment so that you can remove the top piece.
    • Do not wear deodorant.
    • OB-GYN Associates will notify you of your test results in 7 to 10 working days.
    • Should your mammogram indicate an abnormality, OB-GYN Associates will provide additional testing, which may be necessary including a breast ultrasound, special magnified mammographic views, breast cyst aspiration or breast biopsy.
